Tree Planting: A LaPrairie Family Tradition

Dawson Creek Tree PlantingPlanting trees became a family tradition in 1967 when Colleen LaPrairie, mother of Scott LaPrairie, current President and CEO, spearheaded a campaign to plant 400 crab apple trees in the mining community of Elliot Lake, Ontario, to mark Canada’s centennial.

The custom moved west with the formation of LaPrairie Crane in Tumbler Ridge, BC, in 1982. LaPrairie Crane planted trees along Tumbler’s Main and Front Streets to mark the 10th and 20th anniversaries of the town in 1991 and 2001.

LaPrairie Crane has since donated trees to communities in which the company is active today, including Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and Tumbler Ridge in BC, and Grimshaw and Fort McMurray in Alberta.
