Tumbler Ridge Golf and Country Club Receives Donation
On May 28, the Tumbler Ridge golf course received a donation of 30 tonnes of silica sand from the LaPrairie Group of Companies, to help upgrade some of the golf course’s bunkers. Silica sand is often used as the preferred bunker material, especially on professional golf courses because it provides a more consistent base for “sandies” when those errant approach shots unfortunately miss the green.
“We are pleased to be able to make this contribution to the local community golf course in Tumbler Ridge,” stated Cliff LaPrairie, President and General Manager of Canadian Silica Industries, which donated the sand. “It is very satisfying to be able to give a little back to the community where I grew up.”
LaPrairie Works provided equipment and personnel to truck the sand from the mine in Peace River, AB.
Carl LaPrairie, Sr. Vice President of LaPrairie Works noted, “It is a long-standing tradition for the LaPrairie Group of Companies to support the communities where we live and play”.
